    I posted several months ago and am following up on my favorite NYC pizza, Brio 137 East 61st St., NY, NY 10065 212-980-2350. They were not able or willing to indulge my questions regarding rennet in cheese and the manager was quite rude and ignored me. I would still like to know as the food is very good and now it’s also the principle of the thing. Are you able to get the answer for me?

      @Patricia – we have reached out a second time to Brio and will let you know if we hear back – it’s very unfortunate that you were treated to rudely for trying to raise awareness!

        Back in NYC, did you get a reply from Brio about if their cheese pizza is vegetarian?

        Any update?

    Tried to contact Delizia 73 (on your list above)…can you tell me which menu items are “safe”?

    • Jessica March 20, 2013 at 1:25 pm #

      Here is the conversation via facebook with Delizia…

      Me: I found your site through https://rennetfreenyc.wordpress.com/ a site listing restaurants who serve items made with cheese with non-animal rennet. Is this true of some of your menu items? If so, which ones? I am looking for a spot to eat tomorrow (Thursday) with a friend.

      Thank you!

      Delizia: I’m sorry I don’t think we are listed in the site you mentioned nor am I aware of any rennet free items on our menu.

        @Jessica
        Thanks for contributing – we originally reached out to Delizia 92 (sister location) who indicated that they use Joseph Campagnola and Sons mozzarella which is known to be animal-rennet free.
        Please let us know if you hear differently about the Delizia 73 location (different cheese brand?) and we’ll clarify.

    Hi there, I’m wondering if this blog is still going to continue with postings? I was so happy to find it! Thank you for taking the time to search and help others. I’ve been a vegetarian for 20 years and a long time New Yorker. I’m always looking for restaurants that have good pizza or other cheesy foods (like fettuccine alfredo), where the cheese does not have animal rennet.

    My question is in regard to Keste Pizza – It appears that you said that all of their cheese is not made with animal rennet, correct? I am confused because Keste has a pizza called “Regina Margherita Pizza” that is made with mozzarella cheese, and that they state is a vegetarian pizza. However, they don’t make the same claim that the pizza is vegetarian under the “Margherita Pizza” which is made with both mozzarella and Pecorino Romano. I am confused and now worry that the Pecorino Romano may be made with animal rennet. I wanted to point this out to others who may be wanting to get pizza from Keste. Perhaps you may be able to clarify? Thanks for your help!

    Thank you for your investigation. I would like to ask, would it be possible for you to find out whether NYC fried chicken on 39th street and 8th avenue has rennet-free pizza? it’s a spot near my job and would be convenient to know. Thank you!
